HELP: Te Aroha Citizens Advice Bureau chairperson Kay Ven Den Heuvel is calling for volunteers.

Te Aroha Citizens Advice Bureau is calling for volunteers.

The organisation provides the community with free, confidential advice and information.

Co-ordinator Shirley Gillard said people only have to volunteer three hours every two weeks.

The bureau is open from 10am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.

"We offer people a free legal service and have a Justice of the Peace available if they need," Mrs Gillard said. "Being part of a national organisation means we have access to a lot of information and can network with the other 92 bureau sites in the country."

A comprehensive data system allows Te Aroha Citizens Advice Bureau to serve both Morrinsville and Te Aroha.

"We provide regular training for our volunteers so they are fully equiped to deal with just about any question they are asked."

Mrs Gillard said there has been an increase in immigration problems.

"We can help people deal with visa permits or anything to do with the Department of Internal Affairs," chairperson Kay Van Den Heuvel said. "Working for CAB is very rewarding and you never know what will happen from one day to the next."

She said it is worthwhile to become a volunteer. "It is a very interesting thing to do and it gives you a sense of accomplishment knowing that you have helped someone."
