Successful race day
 |
| WINNER: Mike Calver makes his way to the finish line in the Mt Te Aroha Goat Challenge. |
Te Aroha Domain was a hive of activity at the weekend.
Te Aroha Mountain Biking Club’s inaugural Mt Te Aroha Goat Challenge on Saturday attracted great feedback, said president Allan Turner.
"We had about 40 riders in the main event and plenty of children who brought their bikes for fun," he said.
"We did get one complaint from a child whose mum did not bring his bike. He was very unhappy and she told us she had to bring it next year."
The weather made for a good day as people converged on Te Aroha Domain for the race.
"People I have spoken to said they loved the track and could not wait to come back again next year."
He said he didn’t know what to expect when it came to the day.
"Being our first I didn’t have anything to compare it with but I thought it was a great day," Mr Turner said.
"The club owes a big thank you to the Te Aroha Mountain Lions Club for all their help on the day as well as Geometrix for making our map."
Results: men's solo: Mike Calver 1, Carl Van Den Heuvel 2, Geoff Buysman 3; women's solo: Jeanine Kavanagh; team: Good Times; secondary schools: Liam Bins-Conroy.
