Tramp up the Wharawhara Track with Te Puke Branch Forest & Bird. Meet at Boucher Ave Car Park, Te Puke before 8:45am for Carpooling and 9am departure. Car contribution $10. Drive to Wharawhara Road, just before Katikati township. Near the end of Wharawhara Road the walk begins with a wide river crossing. The track then proceeds through nikau palms, mainly following an old tramline with minor stream crossings to the headwaters of the Wharawhara Stream where the kauri logs were "shuted' from Cashmore Clearing. There is an opportunity for fit persons to continue up a zigzag to Cashmore's Clearing for a view. Allow 4-5 for full return walk. Expect to return to Te Puke approximately 4pm.
